Chanel Person is a cosmetic chemist, entrepreneur, and the founder of The Formulation Bar, an experiential beauty lab where science meets creativity. With a passion for making cosmetic science more accessible, Chanel created The Formulation Bar to give people a hands-on opportunity to step into the role of a cosmetic chemist and formulate their own custom lip products in a fun, interactive environment.
Chanel holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Hampton University and a Master of Business & Science (MBS) in Personal Care Science from Rutgers University. Her professional background in cosmetic science and analytical chemistry allows her to blend technical expertise with creative beauty experiences that educate and inspire.
Through The Formulation Bar, Chanel has built a unique beauty concept centered on the formulation of custom lip products, product personalization, and science-driven beauty education. The experience invites guests to learn the fundamentals of cosmetic formulation while creating their own lip gloss, making it a memorable activity to enjoy with friends, celebrate special occasions, or bring teams together through creative team-building experiences.
In addition to leading The Formulation Bar, Chanel is actively involved in the cosmetic science community and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (MASCC).
